Amy AbuShanab is the Assistant Director for the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy and oversees the Institute's operational activities. Before joining Heller in early 2017, Amy worked with the Netter Center for Community Partnerships of the University of Pennsylvania, coordinating a program that connects the resources of the University with the West Philly community. She also spent a year in East Jerusalem, teaching English at the Helen Keller School for the Visually Impaired, and educating Americans about the Palestinian struggle for equal rights.

In early 2018, Amy was elected to the Brandeis University Staff Advisory Committee, the elected representative body of staff, and currently serves as vice-chair. She is also a part of numerous search committees and staff initiatives.

Amy earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a focus on Race and Ethnicity from Texas A&M University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from The Heller School.
